FORT COLLINS, COLO. - Aug. 21, 2009 - Michael Clark, senior vice president of distributed-energy company Encorp, LLC in Fort Collins, has joined the Northern Colorado Clean Energy Cluster board of directors.
The Clean Energy Cluster is a nonprofit economic-development organization working to put Northern Colorado on the map as the "go-to" region for clean-energy initiatives. The Cluster works to attract clean-energy companies to the region, assist existing businesses as they expand into the clean-energy arena and help start-ups thrive in the region. One of the Cluster's key initiatives is Fort ZED, which is transforming downtown Fort Collins and the Colorado State University campus into a zero-energy district, which will be the world's largest.
As Encorp's senior vice president, Clark leads a company whose solutions enable hospitals, manufacturers, office buildings, schools and other sites to reduce energy costs by generating their own electrical power using various fuel sources, including renewables. These Virtual Power Plants(tm) are typically connected to the utility grid.
Encorp's Generator Power Control - or "Gold Box" -- is the heart of many on-site power systems. The Gold Box, which is the world's first truly integrated generator controller, allows operators to remotely control and communicate with various engines, generators and the local utility.
Encorp digital-paralleling switchgear and Virtual Power Plant(tm) software also are key components of on-site power systems. They allow operators to remotely dispatch, aggregate and control power generators and to interconnect on-site power plants with the utility or operate it solely as back-up power.
"Mike has more than 20-years of experience in the energy industry, which is invaluable to us as a board member because of his knowledge and industry contacts," said Judy Dorsey, executive director of the Cluster. "He is a seasoned energy-industry executive truly invested in promoting Northern Colorado as a clean-energy leader."
